1305 POWER Warrants

A. Do not alter the warrant in any way.
1. Deliver the warrant to the client in the existing form when an error occurs;
2. Process the correction before the next warrant is issued and do an underpayment or recovery when appropriate.
B. Inform the grantee the warrant is to be endorsed by the payee in ink on the reverse side.
C. Issue the POWER performance payment payable to the caretaker relative, the protective payee, court appointed guardian or custodian, vendor or two payees as in a two-party check.
D. Impose no restrictions on the use of the POWER funds by the individual, excluding the protective payee (see Section 1308), such as:
1. Instructing the grantee to spend any portion of the money for a specific purpose;
2. Issuing the warrant in the name of an unauthorized person;
3. Asking the grantee to deposit a portion of the money with the agency; or
4. Requiring a receipt as evidence a specific person or organization was paid.
